Experience of the BWDB Systems Rehabitation Project: Engineering Evaluation
The Systems Rehabilitation Project (SRP) underwent a year-long, in-depth evaluation, and this report is one of six volumes presenting those findings. Along with a summary, five thematic reports examine different facets of the project, offering a blend of detailed information and analysis. The research was spearheaded by a collaborative, interdisciplinary team led by John Soussan of the University of Leeds, UK, and Anjan Datta from Sanghamitra Gobeshana Kendra (SGK). Additional contributions came from teams at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and the EGIS project for water sector planning, as well as from SRP staff themselves. The study was made possible through funding from the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Dhaka and other donors involved with SRP. Their support was crucial not only for carrying out the research but also for facilitating an open exchange of information and a thoughtful consideration of the conclusions, which offer important lessons for how stakeholders should approach the design and monitoring of future projects.
