The Strategic Importance of Dreams and Visions in Islam by Imran Najor Hossain explores a subject rooted in internally received knowledge. Its significance for believers grows ever greater as the world descends into godlessness and history draws toward its close. The Prophet (sallalahu 'alaihi wa sallam) stated that when the end of the world approaches, a believer's dreams will hardly fail to come true, and that a believer's dream constitutes one of the forty-six parts of prophethood.
The absence of knowledge is itself a sign of the last age, and our widespread ignorance about dreams and their place in Islam, along with ignorance about the prohibition of Riba, indicates that the final age has arrived. The book draws on the Sufi epistemology taught by Maulana Dr. Muhammad Fadlur Rahman Ansari (rahimahullah) at the Aleemiyah Institute of Islamic Studies in Karachi, which recognizes that knowledge comes from two sources—externally acquired and internally received. This work is founded on that epistemology of internal reception.
