Syed Waliullah A Centenary Tribute

Though his literary output was brief, Syed Waliullah is recognized as one of the foremost contemporary Bengali writers. His major works were published more than fifty years ago, yet he is still considered modern because of his ageless subject matter and intense writing style. Waliullah's key inspiration was Bengal, which he saw closely during his peripatetic childhood. He drew from the lives of people in rural and suburban areas. His fiction and plays are an evocative cultural statement about the quality of life in the Bengali community.
