Shahinur Reza's 'Childrens Nazrul' introduces young readers to the life and work of Kazi Nazrul Islam. Born into a Bengali Muslim family in Burdwan district, Nazrul received religious education and worked as a muezzin at a local mosque in his youth. He learned about poetry, drama, and literature while performing with the rural theatrical group Leṭor Dôl, known for the Leṭo folk song genre of West Bengal. He joined the British Indian Army in 1917 and was posted in Karachi, later establishing himself as a journalist in Calcutta. His fiery poems like "Bidrohī" and "Bhangar Gan," along with his publication Dhūmketu, called for revolution against British rule. His activism led to frequent imprisonment, during which he wrote "Rajbôndīr Jôbanbôndī." His writings later inspired Bengalis during the Bangladesh Liberation War. This book brings Nazrul's remarkable story to a younger audience.
